Circa 1963 CITROEN ELECTRONICS Model 550 Portable Reel to Reel Tape Recorder, also includes case and microphone. Made in Japan. Operates at 1 7/8 ips, and 3 3/4 ips with the included speed adapter. I tested this recorder, it plays and records and the remote button on the microphone works properly but the gears are very noisy during operation and do not consistently drive the play or rewind functions with enough strength; it will require a proper tune up of the interior drive wheels and mechanisms. Cosmetically the exterior looks very good with a few issues: the leather case is very worn and has a broken strap, the plastic window at the top of the lid has a crack, the machine is missing the battery holder for the AA cells, but it will accept a 9v battery.

This is a hefty, portable machine that feels very well made. This machine was also sold under the names Freeman, and Honey Tone.

If you know how to repair these tape recorders this is a good opportunity to purchase a fairly rare item.

Offered for Sale:

RARE VINTAGE TAKAMINE SOUNDCHOICE PREAMP
SYSTEM DEMONSTRATION BOARD

Circa 2001 - 2005

Case hase some scuffs and cracks, solid overall.

This empty demo board does not include preamps or docking ports.

This board was distributed to Takamine dealers as a selling tool in the early/mid 2000s to demonstrate the  Acoustic DSP, Accuracoustic, CT-4B, and Graph-Ex Takamine SoundChoice preamps. A customer could plug the store's Pro Series Takamine guitar into this unit and switch between preamps. This is a rare beast. I have found only one other SoundChoice demo board mentioned in an on-line posting several years ago on the Takamine Forum. The 2002 & 2004 Takamine sales brochures just briefly mention this system (see pics below).

Power is supplied by a 12 volt 1.2 amp wall wart. The wood case measures 17 3/4 wide x 8 1/2 deep x 5" tall with sloping top. Your preamp is supplied its own power via custom inserts that fit into its battery compartment: 3v(AAx2); 9v; 9v; 9v. The openings in the case measure 2 3/8" by 3" and have dedicated input and output plugs for each preamp. The case has two 1/4 inch jacks: one input (from guitar), and one output.

Notes Regarding Preamp Installation:  This demo board was designed for use with Takamine's SoundChoice preamps "Acoustic DSP", "Accuracoustic", "CT-4B", and "Graph-Ex". The door of each preamp's battery compartment requires a small notch to allow the board's power wire to feed through. The openings in this case are slightly larger than the preamp and require a Takamine docking port or a DIY flange to hold each preamp in place. Switching between preamps is via a series of four push buttons.

Note: Before buying determine that this board is compatible with your equipment.
